Carol Parish was a teacher for 22 Years before joining ClickView 5 years ago. She has a passion for the use of Digital Media in the classroom and her motivation is to make impact on Teaching and Learning by facilitating the use of Media through shared resources and shared ideas. Carol believes that every person educating children should engage with technology, and that educators should emThis presentation will explore how to build a centrally managed and copyright checked media library. The vision is ‘one search for all’ so whether a student or teacher be looking for a: book, catalogue, video, podcast, audio file or digital photo, the search should reveal all available resources. ClickView will be presented as a complete digital media solution for schools and colleges and Carol will show how it can manage and deliver content efficiently, both on the local area network and also into a secure web based environment. Carol will touch on the technology which underpins ClickView as well as explain how ClickView is compliant with the copyright issues associated with the use of digital media in schools.

Biography

Patrick Johnson has been a Research Fellow with the National Centre for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and Learning (NCE-MSTL) at the University of Limerick since 2008. He received a B.Sc. degree in Applied Mathematics and Computing and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Limerick. His current research interests include investigating the role of ICT in the teaching and learning of mathematics within the higher education sector in Ireland.

Biography: Janice is an experienced primary school teacher, and Gill Leahy has 19 years teaching maths in secondary education. Both are ICT-enthusiasts with a passion for innovation and creativity in teaching, having worked in classrooms all over the world, they have seen the impact of technology in teaching younger learners.

Committed to the development of interactive whiteboard best practice, they aim to share their knowledge and skills with educators and PGCE students, helping them embed ICT into their pedagogy and realise the potential of digital tools.

Seminar synopsis:

Maths is an integral part of any school curriculum and day to day life but it is not an easy subject to teach. Increasingly numeric and analytic skills are highly sought after, and are much in demand in higher education and the workplace. However the teaching of the subject has posed several challenges for teachers – how to engage learners? Show relevance in the real world? How can teachers support individuals?

Biography: An experienced secondary school teacher, Samantha specialised in Geography and the application of ICT.

Utilising her education and technology experience gained from the classroom, Samantha joined Promethean in 2009 as a Teaching and Learning Consultant. She is committed to developing of interactive whiteboard best practice, sharing her knowledge and expertise to help educators and students integrate ICT and help them realise the full potential of the technology.

Samantha also works closely with publishers and software houses to ensure resources designed for interactive solutions truly meet the needs of the classroom.
